My Dad should be Mayor because he knows how to show people around town. You have not really experienced life to the fullest until you have had the opportunity to ride in a car through Gilbert (and the surrounding area) with Don Skousen. Not only can he tell you about most of the buildings, schools, housing developments, parks, etc. that have been built there in the past 40+ years, he can tell you what was there before, who was there before, who is there now, and why, when, and how the changes have taken place.

He can also tell you who drove exactly what car, including the year, the type and the manufacturer. The tour usually starts in Chandler (where my Dad was born, raised and served as a temporary city manager) and ends on the border of Gilbert and Mesa where he taught at MCC and later served as a Justice of the Peace. Generally, "the tour" (as it is fondly referred to by those of us who have been blessed enough to participate) includes a lot of great stories, a tear or two, and lunch at an out-of-the-way but fantastic restaurant (probably Mexican or Chinese...maybe a good barbecue.) I highly recommend the tour and I highly recommend the tour guide, Don Skousen, for Mayor.....he knows your town.
